How it works
The 2023 edition of MHCC will consist of a four hour case competition, followed by an emergency medicine round table with various speakers, and ending with a wine and cheese social.
The case competition will be team based, with each team including a team leader and team coach. The case itself will be released to team leaders 1-2 weeks in advance, allowing them the opportunity to formulate a preliminary strategy and draft a presentation. The day of the case competition will designate protected time for brainstorming, team-based problem solving and optimizing the presentation, all of which will be guided by the team coach.
Teams will be evaluated based on the following five criteria: data analysis, clarity and strength of recommendations, creativity, presentation, and translatability to clinical practice.
